Insert Fractions into Microsoft Word 2003

Typing the characters 1/2, 1/4, or 3/4 are inserted as fractions ½ , ¼, and ¾. Typing the characters 1/5 or 1/6, remain as two numbers with a slash between them.

Example: ½, ¼, ¾, 1/5, 1/6.

How do you insert the last two fractions to match the format of the other fractions?

Type the fraction 1/5

Select the number 1; click Format, select Font

In the Effects section, check mark Superscript, select OK

Select the number 5; click Format, select Font

In the Effects section, check mark Subscript, select OK

If you like the results, try this with the fraction 1/6
